European Tour Operators Association to meet about visitor tax

ETOA will be holding a dedicated city tourism seminar in Florence on March 21. Florence has been chosen as emblematic of the famous “art cities” that attract so many visitors each year, and as a city that both benefits from tourism and faces the challenges of a top tourist destination.
The event is also being held in light of recent proposals to change federal law in Italy to allow communes to introduce a visitor tax.

People want simple, energy efficient gadgets, research shows
Written by Tyler Kelly on February 12, 2011 – 3:09 pmThe survey, by Accenture, found that almost 80% of people would be prepared to fork out more money for an energy-efficient solution, as this delivers a “clear benefit”.
It added that people are increasingly likely to pay extra for smarter gadgets that do things automatically, such as home appliances that can function around cheaper energy tariffs.
Many of the 2,000 people surveyed expressed their intention to use innovative, alternative solutions in the home, and with energy consumption and transportation.
The survey said that it “found strong market potential for devices that can ease consumer frustrations and deliver clear benefits”.
