Bradwell in Essex, Hartlepool in Lancashire, Hinkley Point in Somerset, Oldbury in Gloucestershire, Sellafield in Cumbria, Sizewell in Suffolk and Wylfa in Anglesey have all been earmarked for nuclear plants by 2025.But after the tsunami in Japan, which caused radioactivity to leak from a plant at Fukushima, nuclear power was called into question.Andreas Speck from Stop New Nuclear, which opposes nuclear plants, told the BBC that the group would oppose the plants with a blockade at the Hinkley Point site on October 3rd.He said that it was “always clear” that the government would press ahead with plant developments despite what happened in Japan.Energy Minister Charles Hendry said: “Around a quarter of the UK’s generating capacity is due to close by the end of this decade.

Robin Hood Tax: Global Day of Action
